Lukas Gage teased ongoing rumors of his alleged romance with hairstylist Chris Appleton.
“If they want to think that, they can,” Gage told The New York Times when asked about the buzz.
The “White Lotus” star added that dating while in the public eye has been difficult.
“I’m a pretty open book about most things in my life, but I have a problem with the culture of everyone needing to know everybody’s business and nothing can be sacred. It’s a weird line that I’m still trying to figure out.”
Although Gage tried to keep their relationship status on the down low, Appleton reposted the NYT article to his Instagram Story, writing, “Hot & Talented 🔥.”
In fact, the pair seemingly made their red carpet debut on Wednesday night at a Vanity Fair event.
The “You” actor and Appleton couldn’t keep their hands off one another as they were photographed with their arms wrapped around one another.
While Gage opted for an all-white look, Appleton kept things classy with a white silk button-down and simple black suit.

The outing comes less than a month after the twosome sparked dating rumors by posting photos together on a lavish vacation in Mexico.
In one of the pics, Gage, 27, and Appleton, 39, posed on top of an ATV. After strapping themselves in, the duo took a selfie in their protective gear.
Meanwhile, the celebrity hairstylist — who has become Kim Kardashian and Jennifer Lopez’s go-to guy — posted a selfie of the men shirtless while wading into the ocean.
Despite the pair’s best efforts to keep their rumored romance under wraps, their friends were quick to swarm the comment section with little hints.
“IG official ❤️,” wrote makeup artist Mary Phillips, while fellow hairstylist Priscilla Valles added, “You guys are too cute!!!!!! Yay!!”
